I'm an actor, director and photographer with over a decade of experience.  I have a very simple philosophy on headshot photography...be natural.  Simply put, your headshot should be the most authentic version of yourself.  It should look JUST like you do when you walk into the audition room.

 

As a director, I have an eye for what I look for in a performer.  This skill aids in me capturing a shot that not only represents the real you, but one that WILL get you work.

 

I shoot with only natural light.  I also do not utilize makeup artists.  You should, of course, always look like the best you possible.  However, unless you are looking for a "glamour shot", then I suggest doing your own makeup just as you would for an audition.  Not many of us have the luxury of having makeup professionally done before every audition.  So, why should your headshot be any different?
